I love this networking thing... we meet people one week then the next week they pass your name on to someone who needs what you do. You gotta love that! It clearly defines relationship building as the key to business.
This is what happened to me, and then I met Phil at Kallangur Bowls. The Bowls Club sits right next door to Norths Leagues & Services Club on Anzac Avenue at Kallangur, in fact they often share a carpark. Sadly, looked upon as the poor cousin as people flock to Norths, the neglected club (cosmetically only {the members are awesome}) is very overdue for a facelift.
That's were I step in. The brief has been something like this:-
We need a cheap and cheerful makeover of the club that will get us by whilst we rebuild the Club finances, apply for Grants and hopefully acquire some donations along the way.
My initial thoughts were, Ok! lets paint the walls, the Aqua, Turquoise, BlueGreen has to go! (see photo page in blog) Let's render or plaster over the internal brick walls, demolish the temporary store room (that has been there for over 15 years), repair the dance floor, and recarpet the dining room. Oh, and we must do something with the lighting...
For now, the walls will be the first thing to change. The rest may take time, but there is a plan :-)
Carpet has been selected for the dining room and bar/gaming area, tiles for the hall, bathrooms and bar, laminates and stone for the benchtops and divider walls. Space has been created for a 'walk-of-fame' for the trophy boards. Creative solutions for storage including taking a pile of rubbish to the tip! temporary dressing rooms for performers, and moving the lockers to the 'old' club house have all enabled works to progress.
